Lib Dems come in 2nd place to challenge Labour in Redhill By-election

Local Lib Dem campaigner Steve Donkin has come a close second place in the Redhill Ward by-election held on 3rd March 2022.

Congratulations go to John Usher, the winning Labour candidate in yesterday's Redhill Ward by-election. We wish him well in his new role as a city councillor.

We want to say a huge thank you to the hundreds of people who supported local Lib Dem campaigner Steve Donkin - who came second in yesterday's poll.

It is clear that in Downhill, Red House, Town End Farm, Wear View and Witherwack - and across the city of Sunderland - the Liberal Democrats are the real alternative to Sunderland Labour.
